Cruise to Nowhere, 2024, 2025 and 2026 Cruises to Nowhere

3 day cruise to nowhere

The drawbacks are the lack of choice in destination and cruise line. You won't be able to try every restaurant or attraction on board your cruise ship because you simply won't have enough time. I'm currently seeing three-night Bahamas cruises from $129 per person, based on two people sharing an inside (windowless) cabin.

Cruises to Nowhere from New York

They are designed to immerse passengers in the shipboard life yet offer as much relaxation and quietude as you like. You can count on those lines to offer entire seasons of short sailings. A few other lines, such as Holland America or Princess Cruises, will offer the occasional repositioning sailing along the Pacific Coast between San Francisco or Seattle and Vancouver.

Cruises

Similarly, part of the central square in Libourne is surrounded by the traditional arcades and is especially lively on market days. At Blaye, Vauban’s 17th century citadel is a military masterpiece complete with village and ramparts to explore. Weekend cruises have many benefits, the obvious one being they do not require missing much school or work. They're more affordable than a longer cruise, so they can be great for folks on a budget. You can tack them onto a longer vacation in Florida or California to combine two trips into one. Three-night Mexico cruises at press time are starting at $149 per person ($50 per night), with balconies from $237 ($79 per night).

Cruise Ports

That breaks down to $43/night for transportation, food, accommodations and entertainment for one person ($86/night for a couple). You'll have a hard time finding a hotel for that price, let alone lodging plus multiple meals. Two-nighters are rare in the weekend cruise world but do exist. The key line for cruisers short on time is Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line (come late April, it will transition into Margaritaville at Sea).

For example, on my last short cruise there was no set dining time option for dinner in the main dining room (MDR). All dining in the MDR was “anytime” dining meaning you could either call ahead to make a reservation for the time you wanted or just show up at any time to eat. But boy oh boy, on my last cruise aboard HAL’s ms Eurodam, a one nighter, even I stayed up past 8pm (necessitated by my goal to eat 7 days worth of food in less than 24 hours) and the ship was hoppin’.

The days of the two-night cruise to nowhere are gone, but two- and three-night weekend cruises still exist from ports ranging from Miami to Los Angeles. Read on to learn who sails these short getaways, where you can go and how much that weekend jaunt to the Bahamas is going to cost you. Cruises to Nowhere from US ports by major cruise companies and on larger ships will not be offered anytime soon. The news became fact in 2016 when the few passenger shipping companies offering such deals canceled all scheduled voyages which itineraries didn't include a foreign port of call.

These short sailings are often used to fill a one-off scheduling gap or perhaps a new port deployment, and are priced to fill capacity with much cheaper rates than a longer sailing. Once you factor in the cost of a hotel room, entertainment, and dining on land it’s a no-brainer if your budget is tight, even when compared to conventional all-inclusive resorts. Often short cruises are offered in order to reposition a ship from one departure port to another (such as the 1 night cruise I took from Seattle to Vancouver and the 3 night cruise I took from Los Angeles to Vancouver). Today’s lecture will cover cruises to nowhere (pictured above) as well as very short 1-3 day cruises. Prior to clicking on this guide, you may not have even known these cruises existed.

Cruises to nowhere are allowed from Australian ports, with Sydney and Brisbane leading the list of ports where these "seacations" are easy to book. Imagine adding two lovely sea days to your trip down under -- perhaps as your opportunity to overcome your jetlag at the beginning of your Australian sojourn or to wind things up at the end. Leave all your cares on land and slip away for a weekend cruise.

Who goes on Nowhere cruises and what the ships look like?

The cheapest balcony cabin I found was just shy of $200 total for one person (under $65 per night), though fares in the $200s and $300s were more common. Circle Line and Liberty Cruise both offer a few different sightseeing tours that cruise on the water around Manhattan. Make sure you've got your camera handy because the views are amazing. With numerous features ranging from a TSA-approved lock to an actual USB port (yes, you can charge your phone with this bad boy), this carry-on from Away is built to be the last you’ll ever have to buy.

It’s a great opportunity to make full use of all shipboard amenities – a languid afternoon lazing by the pool deck, a fine meal in a specialty restaurant, some blissful spa time at sea, or a movie screening under the stars. By the time you set foot back on dry land, you’ll likely already know whether the cruising life is for you. People are still taking a cruise to nowhere legally by simply creating their own limited time DIY version.

Spend an extra hour or two in bed and enjoy a laid back day at leisure, including a lunch buffet without the long lines. Cruise lines continue to offer daytime activities during port days, which again will be less crowded than usual, and all the more rewarding for it. Art and crafts, game shows, lectures and cooking demonstrations are just some of the varied options.

It couldn’t just head down to Oregon for a day or sail around the Pugit Sound for a few days and then return to Seattle. Overall, we think it’s a huge mistake to stay onboard a cruise ship (if you’re physically capable) for the entirety of your cruise. You’re missing out on experiencing new cultures and trying something different by remaining on the ship.

And this is a great deal, considering the type of your short cruise ship vacation and all that's included (plus the cabin, open-seating dining in the Main Dining Rooms, 24-hour room service, etc, etc). The top ports in the U.S. for three-day (or night) cruises are Miami and Port Canaveral in Florida along with the two Los Angeles ports of Long Beach and San Pedro. You may also find three-night cruises available from San Diego, San Francisco and Fort Lauderdale. Nassau and cruise line private islands are the most popular destinations for U.S. three-day or night cruises. Princess operates both two- and three-day cruises in the Pacific Northwest at the beginning and end of the Alaska cruise season.

You can use three-night cruises to travel between two ports in some cases, or simply to add more stops to your overall itinerary. You can do that on a three-night cruise round-trip from Barcelona with stops in Marseilles, France and Savona, Italy. We also found short three-night cruises from Durban and Cape Town, South Africa, Southampton, U.K., Rio de Janeiro, Singapore, and even Helsinki. Three-day cruises also present a unique add-on to extend a land-based trip.
